Albania - weather in August

Flag - Albania

Map - Albania

In August, the last month of summer, the climate in Albania is hot and sunny. In fact, August is the hottest month of the year.
The average daily temperature is around 27 °C (80.5 °F) on the coast (see Durrës, Vlorë, Sarandë) and 25.5 °C (78 °F) in the capital, Tirana, which is located a little further east, while it is around 23 °C (73 °F) in the cities located on the eastern hills (see Peshkopi, Korçë).
In recent years, with global warming, long periods of very hot weather have occurred. Furthermore, during the hottest days, when the sirocco blows, the temperature can reach and exceed 40 °C (104 °F) in the plains and 35 °C (95 °F) on the eastern hills.
In the high mountains, however, you can find a bit of cool weather.
On the coast, the rains are rare. In fact, July and August in Albania are the driest months of the year. In inland areas, however, there is a little more rain, due to the thunderstorms that can break out in the afternoon.
The sea is warm enough for swimming, and August is also the month in which it is warmest, with a temperature of around 25 °C (77 °F).
During the month, the length of the days gradually decreases. In August, the average day in Albania is just under 14 hours long.

The following tables show the climate averages in the month of August in Albania in a selection of locations.
