Weather and climate in Mercedes (Uruguay)

The climate of Mercedes is subtropical (according to the Köppen classification: humid subtropical climate - Cfa), with mild, fairly dry winters (from June to August) and hot, rainy summers (from December to March). In summer, the rains often occur in the form of a thunderstorm.
The city is the capital of the Soriano department and is located in southwestern Uruguay, at 33 degrees south latitude, on the banks of the Río Negro, a tributary of the Uruguay River.
