Climate chart - San José
The climate of San José is Mediterranean, with mild, rainy winters and hot, sunny summers.
The city is located in California, in the northern part of Santa Clara valley, and south of San Francisco bay. We are in the so-called Silicon Valley.
On the coldest nights of the year, the temperature generally drops to around freezing, while during the day it remains around 10 °C (50 °F). But in December 1990, it dropped to -7 °C (19 °F). Snow is very rare; here, as in San Francisco, locals remember the snowfall of February 1976.
Summer is definitely warmer than in San Francisco: there are several days with highs around 30 °C (86 °F), and on the hottest days of the year (with the wind blowing from the desert), the temperature can reach 37/38 °C (99/100 °F). In June 2000 and in September 2017, it reached 43 °C (109.5 °F).
