Average weather, temperature, rainfall, sunshine hours
The climate of San Fernando is
subtropical, with very mild, relatively rainy winters and hot, sunny summers.
The city is located in the homonymous valley, north-west of Los Angeles, and at an altitude of 300 meters (1,000 feet). San Fernando valley has a climate not much different from that of Los Angeles, but it is a little colder on winter nights and a little warmer in summer, because the Santa Monica Mountains separate it from the ocean. However, here too, sometimes there can be days that are a bit cool, in May (with highs around 17 °C or 63 °F) and in early June (with highs around 20 °C or 68 °F).
On the coldest nights of the year, the temperature generally drops to 1/2 °C (34/36 °F). Snow is extremely rare, although it snowed in 1949.
On the hottest days of the year, which can also occur in September, the temperature generally reaches 41/42 °C (106/108 °F), but sometimes as high as 45 °C (113 °F). This happens when the Santa Ana winds blow from the deserts of Nevada.
For the climate averages, we can refer to the neighboring city of Burbank.
The
average temperature of the coldest month (December) is of 13 °C (55 °F), that of the warmest month (August) is of 25.1 °C (77 °F). Here are the average temperatures.

Best Time
The
best time to visit San Fernando is spring, in April and May, in fact, it is a mild to pleasantly warm and sunny period, and with a very low risk of hot days. Autumn, in October and November, is generally a good season as well, although the Santa Ana winds are quite common, and the first rains can fall, especially in November.
