Climate chart - Burbank
The climate of Burbank is subtropical, with very mild, relatively rainy winters and hot, sunny summers.
Precipitation is quite scarce, although there can be periods of bad weather in winter.
The sun shines very often.
The city is located in California, in San Fernando Valley, north-west of Los Angeles, and 200 meters (650 feet) above sea level. San Fernando valley has a climate not much different from that of Los Angeles, but it is a little colder on winter nights and a little warmer in summer, because the Santa Monica Mountains separate it from the ocean. However, here too, sometimes there can be days that are a bit cool, in May (with highs around 17 °C or 63 °F) and in early June (with highs around 20 °C or 68 °F).
On the coldest nights of the year, the temperature generally drops to 1/2 °C (34/36 °F), although in January 2007, it dropped to -3.3 °C (26 °F), and in December 1990, it dropped to -5 °C (23 °F).
On the hottest days of the year, which can also occur in September, the temperature generally reaches 41/42 °C (106/108 °F), but sometimes even 45 °C (113 °F). This happens when the Santa Ana winds blow from the deserts of Nevada.
