The climate of Mary is
arid continental, with quite mild winters and very hot, sunny summers (according to the Köppen classification, cold desert climate - BWk).
Mary is a city of 125,000 inhabitants, located in the south-east of Turkmenistan, in the province of the same name, on the banks of the river
Marghab (the ancient Margiana), and at 37 degrees north latitude.
About 25 km (15 mi) to the east is the city of
