Climate chart - Gabes
The climate of Gabès is desert, but tempered by the sea. Temperatures are similar to those of the Mediterranean climate, although the summer is particularly hot. Indeed, owing to the proximity to the Sahara, heat waves are possible all year round, but especially in summer, with hot, dry winds able to bring sand and dust.
The city is located on the east coast of Tunisia.
Although winter is mild, there can sometimes be cold periods, during which the temperature can drop to around 0 °C (32 °F) at night and remain at around 10 °C (50 °F) during the day.
In summer, during invasions of hot air from the desert, which have become more frequent in recent years, the temperature can exceed 40 °C (104 °F). The record heat is 49 °C (120 °F), set in July 2023. In the latter month, the average maximum temperature was 39.9 °C (103.8 °F).
