The climate of Albacete is slightly continental, with quite cold winters and hot, sunny summers. The rains are scarce, however, they are a little more frequent in spring and autumn.
The city is located in the south-eastern part of the Spanish plateau (Meseta), in Castile-La Mancha, at an altitude of 700 meters (2,300 feet).

The winter, from December to February, is quite cold. Average temperatures are not very low, but at night it gets cold, and in periods of good weather, fog can form (especially in December and January).
Also, there may sometimes be very cold periods.
On the coldest nights of the year, the temperature generally drops to -8/-9 °C (16/18 °F), but during the coldest winters it can drop to really low values. In January 1971, it dropped to -24 °C (-11 °F), while in February 1983, it dropped to -20 °C (-4 °F). Snow in Albacete is quite rare, and in any case it is rarely abundant, because the winter is dry, however, it can sometimes snow.
