Tambov has a
continental climate (according to the Köppen classification, humid continental with warm summers - Dfb), with cold winters, during which the temperature is normally below freezing, and warm summers.
Tambov is a city of 290,000 inhabitants, the capital of the oblast of the same name, located in European Russia, at almost 53 degrees north latitude and 420 km (260 mi) southeast of Moscow.
