Climate chart - Ivanovo
The climate of Ivanovo is continental, with very cold winters, during which the temperature is normally below freezing, and relatively warm summers.
Ivanovo (formerly Ivanovo-Voznesensk) is a city of 410,000 inhabitants, located in European Russia, at 54 degrees north latitude and 240 km (150 mi) northeast of Moscow.

Precipitation is not abundant, since it amounts to about 615 millimeters (24 inches) per year. As often happens in cold climates, the rainiest season is summer.

Winter, from November to March, is very cold: the average temperature in January is around -9 °C (16 °F). The sky is often cloudy, and light snow often falls.
The ground is usually covered in snow, although there may be periods when the temperature rises above freezing, usually only slightly, and rain, drizzle or rain mixed with snow can occur.
During cold spells, the temperature drops to around -25 °C (-13 °F) or below almost every year, and can sometimes drop below -30 °C (-22 °F).
The coldest record is -46 °C (-51 °F), set in January 1940.
On the other hand, in the exceptionally mild winter of 2020, the daily average from December to February was -1.8 °C (28.8 °F).

Summer, from June to August, is very mild or pleasantly warm, with an acceptable amount of sunshine, but also with fairly frequent rains and thunderstorms. The average in July is 19 °C (66 °F).
Sometimes there can be hot periods in which the temperature exceeds 30 °C (86 °F). The hottest records in July and August are around 37 °C (98.5 °F).
