Climate chart - Niksic
The climate of Nikšic is moderately continental, with cold winters and warm summers.
Nikšic is the second largest city in Montenegro. The city is located at 650 meters (2,100 feet) above sea level. Since it is on the western side, it is not as cold as the east of the country, but in return it is definitely more rainy.
However, the winter is quite cold, moreover, very cold periods can occur, with snowfalls (sometimes abundant) and temperatures below freezing even during the day. The record is -20 °C (-4 °F).
The summer is warm and sunny, with cool nights. However, there may be some rainy days, especially in June, and thunderstorms can break out in the afternoon.
While it is generally not too hot, there can be very hot periods, with highs of 35 °C (95 °F) and over. The record is 39.5 °C (103 °F), set in July 2007.
