In Mérida, the largest city of Yucatán, located on the 20th parallel, there is a tropical climate, hot all year round. There is a rainy and muggy season from June to October, a relatively cool season from November to February, and a hot season before the rains, from March to May, when the highest temperatures of the year are reached, with peaks of more than 40 °C (104 °F).
In winter, there can be some days a little cool, with highs around 22 °C (72 °F), and windy. Sometimes at night, it can get a little cold, in fact the minimum temperature can drop to 7/10 °C (45/50 °F).
From June to November (but with a higher probability from August to October), there is the risk of hurricanes.
The amount of sunshine is good all year round, but especially from March to May, the period preceding the summer rains.
The sea temperature is high enough for swimming all year round.
