Climate chart - Tripoli
The climate of Tripoli is Mediterranean, with very mild, rainy winters and hot, sunny summers.
Tripoli (or Tripoli of the Levant, Ṭrāblus, Ṭarābulus) is a city of 495,000 inhabitants, the capital of the North Lebanon governorate, located on the Mediterranean coast, and at 34 degrees north latitude.
About 20 km (12 mi) to the east are the mountains of the Lebanon range, with the highest peak, Qurnat as Sawda', 3,087 meters (10,128 feet) high.
In the vicinity of this mountain, 2,000 meters (6,500 feet) above sea level, in the Cedars Ski Resort, the oldest in the country, the average temperature in January is about 0 °C (32 °F), while that of July and August is 18/19 °C (64/66 °F).

Precipitation in Tripoli is moderate, since it amounts to 850 millimeters (33.5 inches) per year, however, it is concentrated from October to March, a period during which it can be abundant. In summer, instead, it almost never rains.

Winter, from December to February, is very mild, with an average January temperature of around 13 °C (55.5 °F). There are sunny periods, however, there are also periods of bad weather, with wind, rain and thunderstorms, sometimes accompanied by hail.
Sometimes there can be somewhat cold periods, with lows around the freezing point and highs around 10 °C (50 °F). In March 1973, the temperature dropped to -3 °C (26.5 °F).
Snow in Tripoli is very rare, although it is a bit more frequent than in Beirut. Accumulating snowfall occurs approximately every ten years, and the snow tends to melt quickly because the temperature always rises above freezing during the day.

Summer, from June to September, is hot, muggy and sunny. The average temperature in August, the hottest month, is 27.5 °C (81.5 °F). The humidity is high, although the sea breeze provides some relief. Rainfall is very rare, especially in July and August, when it basically never rains.
Due to the influence of the sea, temperatures are very stable. However, there may be periods in which the sultry heat is particularly felt.
In addition, there may sometimes be heat waves, brought by the khamsin, the wind that blows from the deserts of Egypt, which however are more likely in spring, and a little less in autumn, and during which the temperature can reach or exceed 35 °C (95 °F). In these cases, however, the humidity decreases considerably. The heat records from April to October are around 36/38 °C (97/100 °F).

In summer, the sea in Tripoli is pleasantly warm and allows for long baths, especially from July to September.
