The climate of Bissau is tropical, with a dry season from November to May, and a rainy season from June to October due to the African monsoon. Although the rainy season is quite short, the rains are particularly abundant, especially in August.
During the day it is hot all year round, but from December to February, nights are quite cool, plus the humidity is quite low.
In the dry period, the Harmattan, the dry and dust-laden wind from the Sahara, can blow.
The city is the capital of Guinea-Bissau and is located on the coast, near the estuary of the Geba River. In front of the coast there are several islands.
