Climate chart - Skagen
The climate of Skagen is sub-oceanic, with cold winters and mild summers.
The town is located on the northern tip of Denmark, the most windy and maritime area of the country.
Given the latitude (57°43'N), the white nights, in which the sun sets but it does not get completely dark even at midnight, occur from May 22 to July 21.
Although the winter is not very cold for the latitude, it is often humid, windy and rainy. Snow is quite frequent, although generally not abundant. Even in spring, until April or the first half of May, there is often cold and unstable weather.
Occasionally, there may be cold waves, in which the temperature can drop below -10 °C (14 °F). In January 1987, the temperature dropped to -19.5 °C (3 °F).
In summer, the temperature rarely reaches 25 °C (77 °F). The temperature reached 29 °C (84 °F) in August 1975, but later it didn't go above 27/28 °C (82/84 °F).
In summer, also due to the length of the days, the sunshine amount is quite good.
