The climate of Samsø is Baltic, that is to say, relatively continental, with cold winters and mild to pleasantly warm summers.
The small island of Samsø is located east of Jutland, in central Denmark. The main settlement is Tranebjerg.
Given the latitude (55°52'N), the white nights, in which the sun sets but it does not get completely dark even at midnight, occur from June 2 to July 10.
Although the winter is not very cold for the latitude, it is often humid, windy and rainy. Snow is quite frequent, although generally not abundant. Even in spring, until April or the first half of May, there is often cold and unstable weather.
Occasionally, there may be cold waves, in which the temperature can drop below -15 °C (5 °F). The coldest record is -22 °C (-7.6 °F) and was set in January 1942.
In summer, short hot periods are possible. The highest record is 32.2 °C (90 °F) and was set in August 1975.
