Climate chart - Odense
The climate of Odense, the third largest city in Denmark, is Baltic, that is to say, relatively continental, with cold winters and mild to pleasantly warm summers.
The city is located on the island of Funen, east of southern Jutland.
Given the latitude (55°24'N), the white nights, in which the sun sets but it does not get completely dark even at midnight, occur from June 6 to July 6.
Although the winter is not very cold for the latitude, it is often humid, windy and rainy. Snow is quite frequent, although generally not abundant. Even in spring, until April or the first half of May, there is often cold and unstable weather.
Occasionally, there may be cold waves in winter, in which the temperature can drop below -15 °C (5 °F). The coldest record is -23 °C (-9.5 °F), set in February 1963 and February 2012.
In summer, short hot periods are possible. The highest record is 35.4 °C (95.7 °F) and was set in July 2022.
