Climate chart - Cuiabá
The climate of Cuiabá is tropical, with a rainy season from October to April and a dry season from May to September.
The city is the capital of the state of Mato Grosso and is located in the west of Brazil, at 15 degrees south latitude and at 165 meters (540 feet) above sea level.
The city is famous in Brazil for being very hot. Indeed, it can be very hot all year round, but especially from mid-August to October, before the rainy period. In 2020, the temperature reached 43 °C (109.5 °F) between the end of September and the beginning of October.
From June to August, it would be the austral winter, and in fact the night temperatures decrease a bit, but during the day it is hot. In addition, sometimes air masses coming from the Argentine pampas can bring cool periods that last a few days, in which the temperature can drop down to 10 °C (50 °F) or even below during the night, and down to 20 °C (68 °F) or even below during the day.
Furthermore, in the dry winter period, the city can be invaded by the smoke produced by fires in the nearby woods.

The best time to visit Cuiabá is from May to mid-August, being the least hot within the dry season. From mid-August to the end of September it is still the dry season, but the probability that it gets very hot increases.
