Climate chart - Sétif
The climate of Sétif is transitional Mediterranean, with some continental characteristics, and semi-arid.
The city is located in northern Algeria, in a plateau at 1,100 meters (3,600 feet) above sea level, and about 50 km (30 mi) away from the Mediterranean coast.
The winter is quite cold, in addition, the city is exposed to cold spells and snowfalls. On average, it snows twelve days a year. In January 2005, the temperature dropped to -10.5 °C (13 °F).
Despite the altitude, the summer is hot, and it is hotter than on the coast, although it is not as hot as in the desert areas of Algeria. The temperature can sometimes reach 40 °C (104 °F).
